I just completed my food funeral - you know, where you spend a week binge-eating everything you've ever loved. As I woke this morning, I swore I heard Boys II Men singing, "It's so hard to say good bye to yesterday."
I went to the grocery store a couple days ago, after consuming half of a large pepperoni & mushroom pizza, tortilla chips with pico de gallo, and mint chocolate chip ice cream. (Yeah, I know how to say goodbye in style!) These were the guidelines I am required to follow:
"You will need to be on a pre-surgery diet for 14 days before your surgery."
Goals: 60g protein, 64 ounces of liquids, 1,000 calories or less
Liquid Meal Options: (3 per day) Protein water, Pre-made protein shake (low sugar & fat, 20-30g protein), "Home Made" Protein shake from powder (low fat & sugar, 20-30g protein, 1% milk)
Snack Options: (3 per day) 1/2 c of any of the following: creamed soup, low-fat yogurt (plain, Greek preferred), sugar-free low-fat pudding, unsweetened applesauce.
All You Can Eat: Water, low-sodium broth, decaf coffee/tea, zero-calorie sports drinks (think Gatorade), sugar-free flavored drink mix (think Mio drops), sugar-free gelatin, sugar-free Popsicles
Here is what I purchased:
