I'm an information junkie! In fact, the closest rival to food in my hierarchy of things I crave is information. So I didn't go into this without first having done sufficient research. I've weeded through a lot of the B.S. and am leaving you with the top sources that I found to help me understand why my diets always fail. Most of these links are newspaper articles from, what I consider to be, reputable sources. You can search out the specific studies that are referenced on Google Scholar or at your local library to read the exact studies referenced. But I am posting these articles because I think they present the information in much more user-friendly manner.
